Break through's partnership with Children's hospital los angeles is an integral piece of our commitment to community.
Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is a nonprofit institution that provides highly personalized, pediatric health care to more than 110,000 children every year. From 2015-2017, Break Through partnered with CHLA's Mark Taper-Johnny Mercer Artists Program, which offers its patients creative outlets to help them cope with anxiety, fear, and unfamiliarity with treatment.
In 2015 alone, CHLA's unique therapy program facilitated over 33,000 artistic “encounters” with patients and families, which ranged from instrumental lessons to poetry sessions, visits from celebrities like Katy Perry and Jason Derulo, and most recently, dance workshops by our team.
Beyond volunteer visits and on-campus fundraising, our team founded "Hip Hop Heals", an annual benefit workshop series which has empowered Los Angeles' dance community at large to join us in contributing to this life-changing therapy program.
We're continually expanding the impact we’ve been fortunate to have on our community, and on October 7th, 2016, we hosted the BT10 Benefit Dinner, a 10-year anniversary celebration of our team’s history that also served as a fundraising event supporting the Mark Taper-Johnny Mercer Artists Program.
